Due to a large amount of brush and trees near homes, fire crews believed homes were threatened and asked residents to shelter in place, according to Mike Chasin, a division chief with Heartland Fire and Rescue.
The brush fire broke out on a hillside in the area, Chasin said.
No homes were damaged. At this time it is unclear what caused the fire.
