ESCONDIDO, Calif. – A two-alarm fire broke out at Vons grocery store in Escondido late Monday night.
According to the Escondido Fire Department, the blaze began before 10:34 p.m. in the produce section of the Vons located at 330 West El Norte Pkwy. An employee attempted to put out the fire with an extinguisher, but was unsuccessful as the store filled with smoke. Responding fire crews called for a second alarm and were able to bring it under control. There were no injuries.
Firefighters shut off the power and said the blaze may have been caused by an electrical problem.
The extent of the damage was not confirmed.
