SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man fatally shot at a Scripps Ranch home -- allegedly by his teenage son -- was identified by police.

San Diego police said 45-year-old Thanh Pham died Sunday night after he was shot at least once inside a home in the 11200 block of Affinity Court.

According to police, officers responding to a report of a shooting at the condominium complex found a critically injured Pham lying on a bedroom floor. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers searched the area for the victim’s 15-year-old son, who was identified as the suspected shooter, but could not immediately find him.

Early Monday morning, police received a report from a witness who spotted a person believed to be the suspected shooter in the 10100 block of Scripps Poway Parkway.

Officers located the teen and took him into custody. Bags were placed over the teen’s hands as a way to preserve any possible gunshot residue.

10News learned the boy was carrying a handgun and several rounds of ammunition at the time of his arrest.
