(KGTV) -- A proposition that would give more power to local governments over rent control has failed.
Proposition 21 would have allowed counties to apply rent control to housing more than 15 years old, with the exception of some single-family homes.
Single-family homes owned by people with no more than two properties would have been exempt under proposition 21.
Those in support say it’s the change needed to combat homelessness and keep people in their homes. Those opposed say it will make the housing crisis worse.
