Elderly woman dies following three-vehicle crash in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - One woman is dead after her vehicle collided with two others in a South Bay intersection.

The three-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Orange Avenue just after 9 a.m., Chula Vista Police (CVPD) said. Officers who first arrived on the scene said they found an elderly woman critically injured in the crash.

She was brought to Scripps Mercy Trauma Center, where she later died of her injuries. Her identity has yet to be released by authorities.

Traffic investigators said the victim was traveling northbound on Fourth Ave. when she collided with a vehicle traveling eastbound on Orange Ave. The woman's vehicle then rotated and collided with another vehicle stopped nearby.

Police did not say who was at fault for the crash. Drug or alcohol are not suspected to have played a part in the collision at this time, CVPD said.
