El Centro Border agents find nearly $200K in cocaine hidden in car's seats

SALTON CITY, Calif. (KGTV) - Nearly $200,000 in cocaine was seized Friday by Border Patrol agents.

Border officers stopped a 2009 Toyota Corolla just after 9 a.m. and during the inspection, a K-9 unit alerted officers to the vehicle.

The 42-year-old driver was referred to secondary inspection, where CBP discovered five sealed packaged in the rear passenger seats of the vehicle.

The packages contained about 12 and a half pounds of cocaine, valued at $188,400.

CBP turned the driver, a Mexican citizen, narcotics, and vehicle over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Since Oct. 2016, CBP said El Centro Sector Border agents have seized more than 459 pounds of cocaine.
