SAN DIEGO -- A collision at a Sorrento Valley intersection early Tuesday left a 54-year-old man severely hurt, but the second motorist, who is pregnant, was able to avoid injury.

A westbound Toyota Sienna minivan and a southbound Hyundai sedan crashed at the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Sorrento Valley Road around 2 a.m., San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said. The cause of the collision was not immediately known, he said.

The Hyundai's driver suffered a broken pelvis and internal injuries in the crash, Delimitros said.
