SAN DIEGO – Police are searching for a driver who struck a woman at a crowded intersection in the Gaslamp District and then drove away.
The collision occurred at around 1 a.m. at Fifth and Island avenues.
A witness told San Diego police the woman was with friends when a gray-colored BMW smashed into her, sending her airborne. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene.
“I don't know if he saw her or she saw him, so he just pressed the gas, going really fast and he drove off," witness Sabiean Hermez told 10News.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The suspect remains at large. No description was immediately available. Police are investigating.
