POWAY - A motorist was killed Friday afternoon when an SUV veered off a Poway street and tumbled down an embankment, authorities reported.
The driver lost control of the Ford Explorer for unknown reasons at Espola and Poway roads shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to sheriff's officials.
The victim, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene of the crash, Lt. Robert Smith said.
