The Los Angeles Dodgers will honor retired U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Marcus D. Chischilly of San Diego, a Purple Heart recipient, as the Military Hero of the Game at Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles at Dodger Stadium.

Chischilly was deployed to Iraq three times and Afghanistan once. In 2010, during a firefight with Taliban forces, Chischilly stepped on a 25-pound improvised explosive device, which destroyed parts of his left leg and left severe shrapnel wounds to his arms and right thigh.

Chischilly was awarded the Purple Heart. He has also received the National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan.

Auto gates will open at 9:40 a.m. and stadium gates at 10:10 a.m. Pregame ceremonies will begin at noon and the game at 12:10 p.m.
