Dog bites CHP officer at homeless camp along I-8 in East County

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A California Highway Patrol officer is recovering from a dog bite suffered at a homeless camp along Interstate 8 in El Cajon Tuesday.

The officer was investigating the camp near the Magnolia Ave. onramp at 10:15 a.m. when he was bitten, the CHP said.

The dog bit the officer's leg and hand. The CHP said the officer was taken to the hospital in good condition.

Animal control officers took the dog to be tested for rabies.
