A sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital Monday evening after the car she was driving crashed on a freeway in the La Mesa area.
The incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. on southbound state Route 125 at Lemon Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deputy apparently told authorities she was traveling on the southbound side when she somehow lost consciousness, causing her car to veer and hit a barrier. The vehicle spun completely around and came to a stop just off the freeway.
The deputy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
