RAMONA, Calif. -- An 86-year-old Ramona man fired off several gunshots inside his home Friday morning, one of which traveled through his bedroom door and struck someone in the leg.

The suspect, Don Aspin, allegedly holed up inside his apartment on H Street near 12th Street for about 20 minutes after the shooting around 1:45 a.m. but came out and was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, sheriff's Sgt. Mark Knierim said.

The victim told deputies that Aspin had armed himself with a hangun and a rifle and fired several rounds from inside his bedroom. The relationship between the suspect and the victim was not immediately clear, nor was a motive for the violence.

Knierim said the victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for a non- life-threatening bullet wound.
