Dangerous trash litters Balboa Elementary School before first day

Posted

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman is upset after finding dangerous trash near Balboa Elementary School.

Melanie Vigil called 10News after she found used condoms, dead rats and empty alcohol bottles near the school on her morning walk.

Classes start on Monday. The woman hopes she can get her neighbors to help her clean up the mess.

Balboa Elementary School principal, Hector Bravo, told 10News the school is the victim of budget cuts. Right now, they only have one full-time custodian getting the classrooms ready for their first day. The school has another person helping out part time. Bravo says the mess should be cleaned up by Monday.

Vigil says she's willing to help the school out by cleaning up the mess, but she wants neighbors to join her.
