Crime Stoppers seeks arsonists for fires at Carmel Valley schools

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Crime Stoppers needs the public's help to find suspects wanted for setting two fires in five days at Carmel Valley schools.

The first fire was August 9 at Ocean Air Elementary. The flames broke out in a storage container and spread to the wall of a classroom. Firefighters estimated the damage at $25,000.

The second fire happened August 13 at Sage Canyon Elementary. The fire broke out in a storage container. Sprinklers kept the flames under control until firefighters arrived.

A witness to the Sage Canyon fire said three males ran away from the school to a dark-colored sedan and sped away.

Due to the nature of the fires and the proximity of the schools, investigators believe the fires are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. He or she could be eligible for up to $1,000 reward.
