Crews responding to car fire in Lakeside discover body inside

LAKESIDE, Calif. - Emergency crews responding to a vehicle fire on a Lakeside road discovered a body inside.

The fire was reported at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at the end of Mast Blvd., west of Monument Blvd., according to authorities.

When crews arrived at the scene, the car was fully engulfed with a person inside. Attempts to pull the person out were not successful.

Investigators are trying to determine if the SUV was involved in a crash before it burst into flames.

The identity of the person remains unknown.
