CORONADO, Calif. —The Child Development Center at Naval Base Coronado was evacuated Thursday afternoon after a report of a "sewage"-like odor.
The Naval Base originally reported on its Facebook page at 2:00 p.m. that the evacuation at the center was due to a ruptured pipe. That information was incorrect according to a Navy public information officer.
The children were moved to Lowry Theater, the statement said.
The public information officer said a team, including the captain of the base, is investigating the source of the smell and it may be caused by "an old inoperable toilet."
