SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police searched today for a masked robber who held up two convenience stores within 50 minutes and two miles of each other in the Sabre Springs and Rancho Penasquitos areas of San Diego.
The suspect pulled off the first heist about 2:10 a.m. today at the AM/PM convenience store at the Arco gas station at 12610 Sabre Springs Parkway, San Diego police officer Robert Heims said. He walked up to the counter and when approached by the clerk, demanded cash from the register.
The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the store, leaving the parking lot on foot, Heims said.
Less than an hour later, just before 3 a.m., the same robber struck the 7-Eleven at 9701 Carmel Mountain Road, Heims said. He demanded money from an employee stocking shelves, then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash after the victim complied with his demand.
The suspect was described as a roughly 5-foot-8 Hispanic man with short brown hair weighing between 175 and 200 pounds. He was estimated to be about 25 years old and wore blue jeans, a blue or black jacket and a blue and white or black and white bandana covering his face.
