SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A hotel concierge and a cook helped stop a man from carjacking a driver outside of a downtown San Diego hotel.

The driver arrived at the hotel to drop off several passengers, but as he got back into his SUV, a man pulled him out of the driver's seat.

The driver and the attacker struggled for control of the SUV as it swerved on the street, hitting a tree and a light pole.

Meanwhile, a hotel concierge and a cook from a nearby restaurant witnessed the commotion and rushed to help.

The concierge and cook chased the assailant but caught up to him on Harbor Drive and held him until police arrived.

Police told 10News they believe the attacker may have been under the influence of drugs.

No serious injuries were reported.
