Park View Little League of Chula Vista looks to keep Little League World Series hopes alive

CHULA VISTA -- The all-star team from the Chula Vista-based Park View Little League will resume play in the West Regional tournament Thursday, needing two victories to qualify for a berth in the Little League World Series.
 
Park View will face the Central East Maui Little League all-star team in the winner's bracket final at Al Houghton Stadium in San Bernardino in a matchup of the six-team tournament's only 2-0 teams. A viewing party of the game's ESPN telecast will begin at 6 p.m. at Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co., 2130 Birch Road, Chula Vista. A portion of the proceed of food sales will be donated to the league.
 
The winner will advance to Saturday's regional championship game. That game's winner will qualify for the Little League World Series, which is played in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
 
The loser of the winners' bracket final will play Friday against the all- star team from the Mountain Ridge Little League, the Nevada state champion and winner of the losers' bracket final, for the other berth in Saturday's championship game of the modified double-elimination tournament.
 
Park View has won both of its games in the West Regional in its last at- bat.
 
Park View scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning in its 7-4 victory Monday over the all-star team from the Cactus Foothills South Little League, the Arizona state champion.
 
Southern California champion Park View scored 15 runs in the 10th inning Sunday night in its 18-3 defeat of the all-star team from the Vacaville Central Little League, the Northern California champion.
 
Central East Maui, the Hawaii state champion, was an 8-0 winner Sunday over the all-star team from the Mountain Ridge Little League. It defeated the all-star team from the Snow Canyon Little League, the Utah state champion, 5-2, on Monday.
 
Park View is 16-2 in its four tournaments, winning nine consecutive games since losing its opener in the South Subregional July 23.
 
Park View is seeking to be the 12th team from San Diego County to play in the Little League World Series, including the 2015 Sweetwater Valley Little League all-star team.
 
The 2009 Park View Little League all-star team won the Little League World Series and began a stretch of three San Diego County teams reaching the Little League World Series in seven years.
