SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A driver and his Chihuahua escaped serious injury after another vehicle opened fire on the car they were in on Interstate 805.
The shooting was reported at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on the northbound I-805 ramp to eastbound state Route 94, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers said the driver of a Nissan Altima reported being shot at around five times by a person driving a blue van. The van was last seen traveling eastbound on SR-94.
The driver was able to pull over and call 911.
Officers shut down the ramp for several hours to investigate and to search for shell casings.
Officers said the rounds struck the car, but the driver and his dog were not hurt.
