SAN DIEGO - A new Chick-fil-A restaurant is opening this week in the Del Sur area, and those who want a year's supply of free meals from the restaurant will have to give back to the community.
In the past, Chick-fil-A celebrates the opening of a new store by offering free meals to the first 100 people who show up to the grand opening.
However, for the new store located on 17115 Camino del Sur (at the Del Sur Town Center, near Carmel Valley Rd.), there will be a twist for its opening -- the first 100 people are going on a bus and will take part in community service events in the area related to helping children and schools.
Everyone who completes the six hours of service will win one free meal -- consisting of Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries and a medium beverage -- per week for 52 weeks.
The new Del Sur restaurant will officially open Thursday, Feb. 23.
