SAN DIEGO – A local ceremony is being held Tuesday morning to honor those who served in the Vietnam War.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. In 2012, President Obama proclaimed March 29 Vietnam Veterans Day. Events are being held across the nation Tuesday, including in San Diego, as part of the USA Vietnam War Commemoration.
At 11 a.m., a commemorative event is taking place at 11 a.m. at the Scottish Rite Event Center in Mission Valley. Among those to be honored are some veterans who were initially shunned when they came home from war.
The event is being hosted by local Veteran Affairs offices.
