SAN DIEGO -- A car that may be connected to a shooting was chased by San Diego police Tuesday from Bankers Hill to Mira Mesa but the driver was ultimately able to elude his pursuers.
An officer spotted the white 2006 Infiniti G35 sedan in the vicinity of Elm Street and Interstate 5 around 6 a.m. A records check of its license plate, 7NNE503, indicated it was sought in a shooting investigation in National City, San Diego police Officer Joshua Hodge said.
Police tried to pull the car over near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Grape Street about five minutes later, but the driver continued north on Fifth Avenue into Hillcrest, Hodge said. It then headed east on Pennsylvania Avenue, then took Sixth Avenue to northbound state Route 163 and continued onto Interstate 15.
At times the car was clocked at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Officers lost sight of the sedan after it exited the freeway at Mira Mesa Boulevard, according to the officer.
Hodge asked that anyone who spots the car not approach the driver but to call police at (619) 531-2000.
