CORONADO, Calif. – Authorities say a woman is OK after she accidentally hit the wrong pedal, sending her car tumbling down an embankment and landing upside down in shallow water at the Loews Coronado Resort on the Silver Strand early Wednesday morning.
Coronado police report that at 5:30 a.m., an employee was coming in to work at the resort located at 4000 Coronado Bay Rd. when she hit the wrong pedal and drove her car through a fence and down an embankment. Her car landed on its top in the shallow waters of the San Diego Bay.
The driver was somehow able to climb out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, a boatman who witnessed the accident drove his boat over to the victim and rescued her. The woman was shaken up, but suffered no serious injuries and was able to walk away.
San Diego Harbor police pulled the car out of the water just after 7 a.m.
