Camp Pendleton Marine arrested on suspicion of wife's murder

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. (KGTV) - A Camp Pendleton Marine is suspected of shooting and killing his estranged wife at a home in Laguna Hills, Orange County Sheriff's Detectives said Friday.

Jerel Boykins, 26, was detained by Marine Corps NCIS on base Thursday afternoon, just hours after deputies found his wife's body.

Deputies were conducting a welfare check at the home on Via Lomas in Laguna Hills when they discovered the 23-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds.

Boykins is being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
