PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman is recovering after being attacked in her home by a bear in Kern County.
The bear broke into the woman's house through the home's doggy door, according to Scripps-affiliate KERO in Bakersfield.
A woman's friend told KERO she tried to scare the bear off with loud noises, but that only caused the bear to go after the woman.
“Had a pan, a pot. You know, when the bear came in she had heard the noise outside her house and pulled out a pan and was making noise trying to scare the bear out,” Powell told KERO.
The bear ended up scratching and injuring the woman's arm, sending her to a nearby hospital where she received at least a dozen stitches.
