ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - A young Alpine mother told 10News she was surprised to find her car had a bullet hole in the roof. She'd heard gunfire Thursday night but didn't see the bullet hole in her Lexus sedan until the next day.
"Very scary, especially given the gun violence lately in Las Vegas and others. It's scary to hear gunshots near your home and my 18-month old was asleep in the bedroom just feet from where we parked the car; the bullet could have easily gone through a window."
She and her husband searched the driveway and found the bullet; called Sheriff's Deputies.
Detectives told them it likely was a bullet that was fired into the air and gravity brought it plummeting down onto their car.
"They didn't identify what calibre bullet it was but they did say the it most like like came from some type of handgun."
She posted on Next Door and Facebook, hoping neighbors will reach out if they have information. Neighbors reported hearing four to six shots that night. She is definitely scared about a possible next time.
"We go outside to move trashcans, get stuff from the car all the time; 8:45 is a completely normal time of night to be outside, grab something, so yeah, we're very scared that something awful could have happened."
No arrests have been made.
