SANTA CLARITA - A brush fire near Santa Clarita has burned at least 160 acres and forced mandatory evacuations of 250 homes in surrounding neighborhoods, according to Los Angeles County fire officials.
The South fire began Saturday around 3 p.m. More than two hundred structures are threatened and fire officials reported 15% containment as of 6:45 p.m, SCV News reports.
Hundreds of firefighters are being helped by air-dropping helicopters.
Portions of the Northbound I-5 is down to two lanes. Officials warn to avoid the area.
