A 24-year-old Brawley man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash in the East County, the San Diego County Medical Examiners office announced Sunday.
The driver -- whose name will be released pending notification of kin -- lost control of his vehicle Saturday night shortly before 11 p.m. while speeding westbound on Interstate 8, just west of McCain Valley Road near Boulevard, the ME's Office said in a news release.
The driver failed to negotiate a turn in the highway, causing the vehicle to leave the highway, roll down a steep embankment and eject him along the way.
Officers responding to the crash declared the driver dead at the scene, according to the ME's Office.
It was not clear if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
