LA MESA (KGTV) -- Police are investigating a brawl that escalated into a shooting early Sunday morning outside of a popular La Mesa pub leaving a security guard injured.

La Mesa Police Department officers responded at around 1:35 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of Jolt N Joe’s bar, located at 8076 La Mesa Blvd., between University Avenue and Spring Street.

The security guard suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper thigh and was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a bald or shaved head, wearing a white polo style shirt.

"At this time, there is no further description of the suspect and the motivation for the shooting is unknown," Bell said.
