ALPINE, Calif. - A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 18-month-old child, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department announced Friday.
Wiliey Foster is accused in the death of Leah Brown-Meza, whose death was ruled a homicide. The child's cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma, the county Medical Examiner's Office determined.
The toddler was found dead Tuesday at a home in the 300 block of Hunter Lane in Alpine, and a homicide investigation was launched due to the nature of the child's injuries. Fire crews had responded to the home on a report that a female child was not breathing.
According to sheriff's officials, the child was inside a motorhome that was parked on the property. Attempts to revive the girl through CPR were not successful, and the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wiliey is facing a murder charge. He was taken into custody at the home on Hunter Lane Friday morning.
