Firefighters rescued a young boy Friday night who was trapped in an escalator at the Macy’s in Mission Valley.
The boy's foot was caught in the bottom of the escalator on the first floor.
Firefighters took the bottom of the escalator apart to free the boy, who appeared to be about 7 years old.
Witnesses said the boy was trapped, and in pain, for about an hour. He was awake and crying when he was taken away by ambulance.
Macy’s closed the escalator.
