A boy in Vista was hit by an off-duty San Diego sheriff's deputy who was driving an unmarked, county-authorized vehicle on his way home from work, according to Sheriff spokesperson Jan Caldwell.
The incident happened around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday near Date and Grapevine in Vista.
The boy did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
