Border Protection officer hit by car at San Ysidro border

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. – A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer was struck by a car near the U.S.-Mexico border Saturday afternoon. 
 
The officer was hit by a car in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue at 1:26 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol’s incident information page. It occurred near the Outlets at the Border shopping center.
 
San Diego police and California Highway Patrol responded. The officer was taken to Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. A witness told 10News the officer did not appear seriously hurt. 
 
There was no official word on the condition of the officer or the circumstances of the collision.
