CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Mike and Molly make an odd couple...and a tough adoption scenarios at the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility!
You see, Mike is a 100-pound Akita and Molly is a 7-pound Chihuahua/ Pug mix - and they're are inseparable.
Caretakers at the facility tell 10News that the odd couple is a bonded pair.
Mike gets depressed and anxious without Molly, so the shelter is working to find a home that will take them both in. Unfortunately, their sizes are making it difficult.
The pair was found wandering the streets in National City by a police officer nearly three months ago.
"We need to find the right family that's willing to take on a big dog and a little dog, make them part of the family," said Linda Septon with the animal care facility.
The pair's adoption fee of $25 each includes them being spayed and neutered, vaccinations and microchipping. If you are interested in adding this couple to your family contact the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility at 619-691-5174 or their adoption counselor at lsepton@chulavistaca.gov.
Another interesting aspect of the story is that this isn't the first bonded pair that's come through the doors of the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility!
In October they had a bonded cat dog pair who they named Romeo and Juliet. Fortunately, their version of the story had a happy ending.
