SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police say the woman's body that was found in San Diego Bay several weeks ago is that of Elizabeth Michelle Sullivan, a Navy wife and mother of two who vanished from her Point Loma home in 2014.

The San Diego Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation into her death, said Lt. Mike Holden.

Her body was discovered Oct. 6 shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the water off Cushing and Farragut roads, police said.

Sullivan, 31, disappeared Oct. 13, 2014.  Police said it was unknown what form of transportation she had been using the day she vanished, and her vehicle was left behind.

Matthew Sullivan, Sullivan's husband, is the one who contacted police and filed a missing persons report.
