OCEANSIDE – A multiple-vehicle crash in Bonsall Thursday sent a motorist to the hospital and left an area roadway closed as diesel fuel from an overturned truck spilled into the street.

A trash truck and two other vehicles crashed along South Mission Road about a mile north of state Route 76 shortly before 6 a.m., according to Oceanside police and the California Highway Patrol. South Mission Road was blocked and fuel was leaking from the truck.

One motorist involved in crash was taken to Palomar Medical Center to be treated, a North County fire dispatcher said.

The crash prompted authorities to close South Mission Road in both directions from state Route 76 to La Canada Road and issue a SigAlert.

Oceanside police said the turn lane from eastbound SR-76 to northbound Mission Road was also blocked.
