SAN DIEGO - Two bicyclists collided on a Clairemont street Wednesday afternoon, leaving one man with serious injuries, San Diego police said.

The incident occurred in the 4300 block of Balboa Avenue around 1:50 p.m. when one bicyclist struck the other with enough force to reportedly cause life-threatening injuries.

One of the bicyclists, an 18-year-old male, sustained lacerations to his spine and feet.

The other bicyclist, police said, sustained multiple skull fractures and is not expected to survive.

San Diego police initially confirmed a hit-and-run incident to 10News but later corrected itself to on-scene 10News reporter Kandiss Crone.
