A suspicious vehicle discovered under a freeway overpass in the South Bay prompted an investigation by police and a bomb squad.
The discovery was reported just before 9 a.m. on northbound Interstate 805, near Beyer Boulevard in San Ysidro, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities did not disclose why the vehicle, which resembled a yellow taxi, was considered suspicious, but the investigation prompted the closure of three lanes on the freeway in the area.
At about 1 p.m., a bomb squad robot inspected the vehicle and determined it did not pose a threat.
Authorities said the vehicle did not have license plates or a visible VIN number.
10News learned authorities will attempt to contact the car's owner to find out why it was abandoned.
