A shooting at the Pala Indian Reservation in the North County left a man dead, according to authorities.
San Diego County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 11900 block of Ortega Road in a residential area of the reservation Monday morning shortly after midnight, Sheriff Lt. Jim Walker said.
Sheriff's officials said that "it appears the victim was sitting in a vehicle when unknown persons shot several rounds into the vehicle striking the victim multiple times."
The 56-year-old victim died at the scene, prompting deputies to call for homicide detectives. No other information was immediately released.
