Authorities Tuesday publicly identified a motorcyclist who was fatally injured in a crash at the end of a Descanso-area roadway over the weekend.

Robert Ceasar Mancini, a 54-year-old resident of the unincorporated mountain community of Guatay, crashed his westbound Suzuki motorcycle into a gate separating county-maintained portion of Wildwood Glen Lane from a private road, according to the California Highway Patrol and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Someone living nearby heard the crash shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday and called for help.

Mancini was airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he died about two hours later, authorities said.
