CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Police are searching for a man suspected of grabbing a young girl near a Chula Vista school Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported at about 1:45 p.m. in an area near Camarena Elementary School (1650 Exploration Falls Drive), according to Chula Vista police.

A 10-year-old girl told police she was walking home "in the general area of Crossroads Street/Guadalupe Street/Juarez Way" when a man standing near a car approached her.

The girl told police the man grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her into the car, but she was able to hit him, causing him to fall down.

The girl said she hid in a bush before running home.

The man got into a black, 4-door car -- similar to a Smart car -- driven by a Filipino man, and the vehicle left the scene.

The suspected attacker was described as white, about 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 170 pounds.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Chula Vista police at 619-691-5151.
