Members of a suspected drug distribution ring in San Diego were as arrested in an operation involving local and federal law enforcement, authorities announced Thursday.

10News learned that law enforcement officers raided a home in the 8100 block of Brookhaven Road Wednesday, taking 17 people into custody. The arrestees face multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of methamphetamine, the possession and distribution of heroin and felony possession of firearms, according to federal case documents.

A Justice Department official confirmed 11 of the arrestees were arraigned in federal court Thursday. The official said many of the subjects allegedly involved in the ring were taken into custody Wednesday, with more arrests made Thursday.

According to federal case documents, the members of the alleged ring -- most of them with gang ties -- were under investigation for over a year.

The operation was executed following grand jury indictment and a federal affidavit in support of a search warrant application.
