MISSION VALLEY — A woman was awakened by an armed man who broke into her second-story apartment early this morning.

The suspect, described as 5-foot-8-inches tall, 190 pounds and wearing all black clothing, climbed onto the apartment's balcony at about 12:05 a.m., San Diego police said.

He kicked in the balcony door and entered the apartment on Gill Village Way, robbery detectives said. The noise awakened a woman who said she saw the suspect holding her purse. The suspect pointed a gun at her and then exited the apartment through the front door.
