SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Grocery store chain Aldi is continuing its Southern California push, opening a new store in San Diego Wednesday.

The grocer’s newest location is in the San Carlos area at 8788 Navajo Road, near Lake Murray Boulevard.

It is Aldi’s first location within city of San Diego limits.

The other stores in San Diego County are located in Chula Vista (40 N. 4th Ave. #110 and 1850 Main Ct.), Escondido (1330 E. Valley Pkwy. #M and 1352B W. Valley Pkwy.) and Vista (1750 University Dr.).

Aldi does not sell many brand-name items; about 90 percent of the products they sell are their own brand, and company officials said that helps them keep prices low.

While doors to the San Carlos store open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, a grand opening event is set for Thursday.

The first 100 customers at the Thursday event will have a chance to win a $100 Aldi gift card.
