RUSSIA (KGTV) -- A strong earthquake hit eastern Russia in the Kamchatka Peninsula Thursday.
The 6.1 quake, which struck around 5:40 p.m. local time, comes in the middle of the 2018 FIFA World Cup games in Russia. At this time, no damages have been reported.
The Kamchatka Peninsula is an area known for a large group of volcanoes - and has at least 160 of them. At least 29 volcanoes are still active, according to the UC Davis library.
