MEXICO (KGTV) -- The United States Geological Survey recorded a 6.1 earthquake off the coast of Jalisco around 7:56 p.m. Friday night.
The powerful quake hit about 150 miles south of Puerto Vallarta. USGS officials recorded the quake at about 15.4 miles below ground.
Mexican officials say people barely felt the shaking, and no damage has been reported so far.
