3 seriously hurt after scooter rear-ends stopped bus in Mission Beach

A man and two women were injured when the scooter they were riding rear-ended a bus in Mission Beach, police said.

The 43-year-old man operating the electric scooter crashed into the back of the stopped bus for unknown reasons on westbound Mission Bay Drive near Mission Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

A 35-year-old passenger suffered life-threatening bleeding to her brain in the crash, Delimitros said. The second passenger, who is 25, suffered a broken wrist and the driver broke his arm.
