CAMP PENDLETON -- A brush fire burning east of Camp Pendleton's DeLuz housing area charred roughly 60 acres as of Wednesday morning, but two smaller brush fires have been contained.
The so-called Juliet Fire, which ignited Tuesday in the Juliet training area near Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook Annex, was zero percent contained early today, according to military officials. However, there were no threats to
structures or base personnel.
Base officials said crews had contained another fire that blackened about 50 acres of brush in the northern reaches of the Marine Corps station near Oceanside, and one that scorched about half an acre behind the Santa Margarita housing area near the front gate.
The cause of the fires was not immediately clear.
